Tenet is seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Research to launch and build a multi-state Research Solutions, LLC of Tenet Health. Tenet is a $20B healthcare operator with unique scale in inpatient (including 65 Acute Care Hospitals and 22 Surgical Hospitals) and outpatient care (including 270 Ambulatory Surgical Centers in our USPI portfolio and 500 physiciansâ�� offices) that could provide substantial recruitment for clinical studies. We are the largest US provider of orthopedic surgery and have clinical depth in cardiology and neurosciences.
We seek a knowledgeable, experienced, and dynamic leader who can work with physicians and market-based research offices to grow our clinical research enterprise to be a first destination for sponsors of clinical trials. This leader would need to have the skills and capabilities to create the process for rapid evaluation of proposals, building of budgets, speedy and thorough IRB review, multi-side contracting working with dedicated legal counsel, and periodic review to ensure compliance.
The Director of Clinical Research will be charged with providing operational direction, tactical steps, management expertise for our growing clinical research function. This person will ensure we are most efficiently and effectively contracting and administering clinical research at the Acute Care Hospitals, Surgical Hospitals, Ambulatory Surgical Centers, and Tenet Physician Resources (TPR).
FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
The Director of Clinical Research will have the following functional responsibilities:
Determine how to organize clinical research to increase recruitment of high quality physicians, enroll patients in distinctive clinical trials, and attract clinical trials as scale to Tenet
Lead the National Research Business Office (NRBO) to improve cycle time and accuracy of submitted research requests
Inventory, organize, and manage the clinical research offices at several facilities to ensure we have speed to market on trials, maintain compliance, and have an accurate inventory of research studies
Work with the finance function to build accurate financial statements for the clinical research function at our facilities and an enterprise-wide view of the financial impact of clinical research
Collaborate with legal to improve efficiency and effectiveness of legal review and contract administrator function
Work with top 40 clinical research physicians or groups to increase enrollment in clinical trials at their sites
Determine other models to scale up clinical research in collaboration with our physician leaders
TRAVEL - up to 20% (mainly to FL, MI, AZ and southern CA. We will run a MVR on the final candidate.
CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
At least seven years of related experience in medicine or health care administration with progressive responsibilities and accomplishments in growing services and physician alignment.
Experience in implementing broad-scale organization change and transformation in the research-based functions
Experience in politically complex environments and working with highly demanding physicians.
Demonstrated success in listening to, influencing, and ultimately binding together physicians and administrators to make change.
Experience in multi-site healthcare organizations.
Knowledge of academic medical center and community based health setting.
A history of identifying key priorities and problems, obtaining relevant information, identifying root causes and generating alternative solutions to reach sound management decisions.
Must have independent judgment and decision-making capability.Excellent human relations skills.
Ability to think operationally and possessing the communication and leadership skills to follow through on development plans.
The ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies and to deliver high quality written and verbal presentations.
