Reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Medicine, the Chair will provide senior leadership in all clinical, educational and research endeavors within the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences (R&IS), an academically distinguished department in the School of Medicine of Emory University. The Chair of R&IS has direct responsibility for the building and continued development of the R&IS program to include clinical care, basic science and translational research and resident and fellow training. Additionally, the Chair will work closely with leadership to integrate the research, clinical care and educational missions of the School of Medicine and the Woodruff Health Sciences Center. A nationally recognized leader in the field of radiology, the Chair and Chief will lead the interests and missions of the Department of R&IS to enhance Emory's reputation as a leading biomedical research institution.
The Chair will serve as the senior physician executive for the Department of R&IS in the School of Medicine. The Chair will be responsible for oversight, mentorship and management of the R&IS faculty, growing the practice through health system integration and external relationships, ongoing communication about the practice to the organization, and driving operational efficiencies and quality. As Chief of Radiology for Emory Healthcare, the Chair will also work closely with Emory Healthcare leadership to ensure highest quality radiology services to all patients, to coordinate services across all medical facilities, and to exercise appropriate operational and financial management of department faculty and services. The Chair will work closely with the Dean of the School of Medicine to develop the clinical programs involving patient care and to plan new R&IS programs and facilities. In addition, the Chair of R&IS will work closely with the leadership team to advance research, education and community outreach and engagement.
Qualifications
A qualified candidate will hold an MD or MD/PhD degree, be an America Board of Radiology certified physician and a nationally recognized Radiology and Imaging Sciences clinician and researcher. The individual will provide leadership in all clinical, educational and research endeavors involving radiology for the faculty of the Department of R&IS. Candidates should possess a minimum of ten (10) years of clinical/educational leadership experience. S/he will be an accomplished operational and strategic leader with direct administrative experience to include a broad understanding of complex health strategies and issues challenging the field of radiology and its medical education programs.
