M Health Fairview seeks a Medical Director-FHMG for the Endocrinology and Rheumatology Specialty Practices. The Medical Director responsibilities will be at a .05 FTE.
Job Summary:
The Medical Director- FHMG provides employment home-related leadership for the employed physicians and APP frontline staff in an assigned practice area for the Fairview Health Medical Group. In partnership with Fairview medical group leadership and leadership from the relevant M Health Fairview service lines and/or domains, develops and executes short, medium and long-range strategic plans within the medical group that align with M Health Fairview strategic goals and objectives and that ensure the medical group is continuously positioned to support these goals and objectives.
- Serves as the primary link between the Medical Group President, the Fairview employment home, and employed providers, and is actively engaged and visibly present across the medical group.
- Collaborates with other areas within the system to provide input into strategy and operational plans from an employment home perspective. Partners with other specialties, domains, and service lines to enhance coordination between programs and improve the effectiveness of the entire network.
- Works to enhance group practice effectiveness and achieve operational and clinical goals, and cost of care, for the medical group.
- Enhances the ability of assigned practice to deliver care consistent with the population needs of the communities served and consistent with care standards established for the respective service line and/or domain.
- Responds to escalated provider/staff conflict, performance concerns, and patient complaints.
Job Expectations:
HR/Performance Management
- Conducts annual performance reviews
- Responsible for Provider Performance Management, Behavior/Discipline
- Lead provider recruitment contact for new and replacement positions in coordination with FHMG Recruiter and operations leadership
- Responds to escalated provider/staff conflict, performance concerns, and patient complaints.

Qualifications
Required:
Education:
- Medical Doctorate degree (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) or foreign equivalent from an accredited school of medicine.
- Graduate of an accredited ACGME or AOA training program.
Experience
- Minimum of five-years of experience in clinical or hospital practice
- Ability to lead and lead change, ability to lead by example
- Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills
- Strong interpersonal and team/group dynamics skills. Ability to balance the needs and perspectives of multiple constituencies and assist groups in decision making.
- Collaborative work style
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, listening and presentation skills
License/Certification/Registration
- Board Certified with the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association.
- Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
- Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota.
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
Preferred:
- Active in medical and patient communities
- MBA, MHA or MPH
Community Information
This role will have oversight over Endocrinology and Rheumatology services throughout the Fairview Health Medical Group.
