The Executive Director leads and manages the overall activities of the Association with initiative and exceptional organizational skills. The Executive Director communicates industry positions on current and potential policy options, represents members to media outlets and state leaders and decision-makers, and works with stakeholders on high-profile legislative and regulatory issues.
The Executive Director reports directly to the Board Chair of AWHP and maintains accountability to the AWHP Board Officers and Board of Directors.

This position requires someone who is politically savvy, comfortable seeking and receiving input from the Member Plans and adept at working with the media.

Desirable Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years professional work experience in the business administration, healthcare administration or health insurance field. A master’s degree is preferred. Preference will be given for experience in association administration. Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders; integrity, a positive attitude, self-directed; and the ability to establish and maintain a home office.
