Job Purpose: To lead the medical practice of the designated clinical Division of the Department of Anesthesiology
Candidate qualifications will include:
- M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent.
- Eligible to apply for a medical license in the state of Georgia.
- American Board of Anesthesiology board certified/eligible.
- Initial academic rank is based on prior experience and a detailed CV review - positions available for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor.
- Criteria for faculty appointment include excellence across clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: The Division Chief will:
- Aid and Advise the Chair and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in all aspects of developing and maintaining clinical services of the Division,
- Ensure representation on all relevant hospital committees
- Maintain up-to-date clinical care protocols and policies for the Division and promote compliance
- Partner with the Department and Division Quality Officers to review incident reports and review policies and procedures as necessary
- Collaborate with the Operations Chief of the Division to ensure all services are appropriately staffed
- Provide faculty mentoring inclusive of preparation for academic promotion and timely completion of annual CCPR reviews
- Manage human resources issues in consultation with the department's Director of Human Resources, Chair, and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs
- Participate in physician and anesthetist recruitment and recommend candidates to the Vice Chairs of Professional Development and Clinical Affairs
- Collaborate with members of the facility's administrative and clinical teams to promote:
- Quality Outcomes
- Patient Experience
- Employee Engagement
- Promote billing and regulatory compliance
- Facilitate education on proper documentation using department and health system resources
- Facilitate ongoing didactics for all clinical members of the Division
- Collaborate with the Division's Operations Chief to prepare and submit capital budget requests
- Contribute to the formulation of policy and strategy of the Department as requested by the Chair and Vice Chairs
- Provide reports to the Chair and Vice Chairs when requested
Time Allocation: The Division Chief will receive 20% nonclinical time to fulfill the requirements of the post at the discretion of the Chair.
Report: The Division Chief reports to the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and will meet with the Chair, Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs, or their designee upon the request of either party.
