Penn Medicine Princeton Health seeks a dynamic and distinguished physician leader to serve as its Chair of Medicine. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual with a demonstrated track record of successful leadership to advance excellence at a clinically-sophisticated health system that is a member of Penn Medicine.
The new Chairperson inherits a Department of Medicine with a robust array of clinical services and quality outcomes that is well positioned for additional growth of services. The Chair will play a key role in leading the growth of clinical programs, elevating performance and quality measures, and identifying ways to integrate and align internally and externally.
Combined with an excellent reputation, Penn Medicine Princeton has 319 licensed beds, possesses a strong balance sheet and generates gross revenue of more than $500 million annually. Penn Medicine Princeton Health serves as a training site for students and residents in partnership with Robert Wood Johnson Rutgers Medical School (RWJMS). Princeton Health also provides post-graduate continuing medical education (CME) and serves as a center for clinical research.
Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, the new Chair of Medicine will serve as a key clinical leader strategist within the organization. The Chairperson will support the CMO and other clinical leaders in their efforts to achieve those strategic initiatives which are defined as critical to a thriving health system. These initiatives include strategic and operational transitions related to population health and other value-based programs occurring within the industry which focus on increased quality of care and cost reduction, enhanced patient experience and satisfaction metrics, a pragmatic approach to fiscal decision making, as well as developing a more clinically integrated system with local community physicians.
The new Chairperson will build upon the current infrastructure and develop a strategy to advance the clear teaching mission of the organization. The Chair of Medicine will be responsible for all professional and administrative functions within the Department of Medicine. The key responsibilities of the Chairperson of the Department of Medicine are providing direction, leadership and support in all aspects of the department’s inpatient hospital and ambulatory practice performance.
