IHA and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) have an excellent full-time opportunity for an experienced Dentist to serve as Program Director for the General Practice Dental Residency Program located in Pontiac, Michigan.
Responsibilities for this opportunity include:
- Organization, implementation, and supervision of the general dentist residency program in conjunction with the faculty. The program director is responsible for establishing and monitoring accomplishment of goals and objectives for the residency program.
- Plan and administer policies and procedures of the residency program, with the support of the Medical Education Committee, and the Department of Surgery, to meet CODA requirements, the objectives of the residency program, and SJMO.
- Prepare, execute, and properly communicate all documentation and preparation for CODA reviews and inspections; ensure compliance with current and future specialty college requirements; properly maintain documentation and communication with CODA.
- Implement and administer an effective residency recruitment program, in conjunction with the Department of Medical Education.
- Maintain a comprehensive written curriculum that describes objectives and expectations of each learning activity. Continuously review, revise/update and prepare faculty to teach in the dental clinic and deliver the didactic curriculum.
- Ensure a proper balance of service obligations to allow the highest quality educational opportunity for residents.
- Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain highly competent personnel of the residency program and designate specific area of responsibility to ensure that all goals and objectives are realized; provide annual feedback and evaluations of faculty, based on mutually determined expectations.
- Establish and monitor committees needed to accomplish the goals and objectives of the residency program; effectively plan the tasks for the programs committees and goals for these committees and be a consensus builder for their actions.
- Ensure high quality learning experiences for all dental students and residents participating in SJMO based rotations.
- Administer and monitor the effectiveness of the residency program, especially regarding quality of patient care and teaching.
- In conjunction with the faculty, provide effective mentoring and counseling for residents, especially in the areas of professional development, career choice, and managing stress and interpersonal relations.
- Prepare, recommend, and administer and financial, personnel and facility budget to the Director of Medical Education, in accordance with short- and long-range objectives.
- Demonstrate and actively promote an understanding and commitment to the mission of SJMO through performing behaviors consistent with Trinity Health values.
- Perform supervision of resident clinical activities on all services for care delivery, including timely review and attestation of resident documentation for office visits, consults, operative and procedure reports.
- Collaborate with the clinical and administrative teams for the GPR practice to ensure resident engagement and timely care delivery for patients and optimization of resources.
- Provide direct care and other services as needed to assure seamless continuity for patients for optimization of treatment plans and patient experience of care.
Minimum requirements for this opportunity include:
- Graduate of an accredited US Dental School (DMD or DDS)
- Completion of postgraduate training program in General Practice Residency
- Five or more years of experience
- Full licensure for State of Michigan
- BLS certified
