The Director of Staff Development (DSD)/MDS Coordinator is responsible for the development of the plan of education for the Transitional Care Unit (TCU). The DSD works with the Clinical Director to orient, educate, and train the TCU Staff in accordance with standards, regulations, and best practice, using a variety of teaching methods. The DSD assists new and current staff in developing role clarity, professional role confidence, and proficiency. Operates as a change agent in the practice and learning environment, and assists with staff and unit development. In addition the role has the responsibility of the coordination of data collection for the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) which includes Minimum Data Set (MDS) by all appropriate health care disciplines and the timely transmission of the MDS to the Department of California Public Health (CDPH).
