Avoca Search has been retained by SSM Health, an innovative and nationally recognized non-profit, multi-state Catholic health system to assist in the recruitment of candidates to serve as their Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer, the CMO performs a pivotal role in supporting and advancing physician engagement, integration, and alignment with primary responsibility for advancing continuing improvement in clinical quality and patient safety across the health system. With a strong foundation in quality, safety, and service excellence, the CMO will provide clinical leadership expertise and oversight ensuring optimal evidence-based patient care and high-quality outcomes in all venues across SSM. A strong understanding of care delivery, capacity management, technology, and ability to lead through influence is vital. The CMO is responsible for supporting best practices in the delivery of value-based care, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and advocating for new growth in clinical capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a highly complex, multi-hospital healthcare environment with an understanding of the transition from volume to value in an integrated health care system. Candidates will be visible physician leaders with an executive presence, a transparent communication style and clinically credible with an ability to collaboratively deliver results and lead through a team-oriented approach. Candidates should have strong business and financial acumen and be viewed as a strategic, highly collaborative leader. Candidates must have an earned medical degree and demonstrated experience managing and leading measurable improvements in quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and cost of care.
