Advance your career providing safe, high-quality care as a Medical Director and Full-time physician with TeamHealth's behavioral health team in the Dallas, Texas, area. Candidates must be board certified.
Join TeamHealth and gain autonomy and control over your practice by setting your own schedule and building a position that matches your lifestyle and career goals. Enjoy flexibility, opportunities for growth and support from a national clinician group focused on providing the highest quality integrated care.
TeamHealth's acute care team delivers medical and behavioral healthcare in an integrated care model to primarily geriatric patients in more than 2,000 post-acute facilities nationwide. Driven by our commitment to quality and safety, we are proud to be one of the largest integrated healthcare providers in the country.
At TeamHealth, our purpose is to perfect our physicians' ability to practice medicine, every day, in everything we do. We support our clinician teams so that you can do what you do best: provide unmatched patient care. We are physician-driven, patient-focused and provide ample opportunities for growth as you develop your career in Behavioral medicine.
The responsibilities of the facility medical director are comparable to those of a unit chief. Enjoy a small department, with more interaction with the senior leadership of the hospital than a unit chief would have. Take part in monthly medical executive and credentialing meetings, as well as ongoing program development, which give you a more complete view of how the hospital functions and broaden your exposure to the rest of the hospital.
Some examples of program development in the past year have been the setting up a consult service for psychiatric nurse practitioners and working with the emergency department on the behavioral health/emergency department interface, but most of the focus is on how to further extend the program into the community, largely via telehealth, to satellite PHP and IOP programs so as to be able to service more of the community.
The bulk of the work of the Facility Medical Director is within psychiatry itself: treatment teams and discharge planning, being the senior-most clinician, monitoring metrics, limited chart reviews, looking over problematic patients or outcomes, and mentoring more junior clinicians. Team Health provides support for scheduling and metrics and has extensive leadership training programs. This position is a great step for professional development and allows for a broader and more interesting career.
