The MetroHealth System (MetroHealth), located in Cleveland, OH, seeks an innovative, strategic, equity-minded executive to serve as the health system's next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This position is available due to the planned retirement of Dr. Akram Boutros, who has successfully led the health system for more than eight years.
MetroHealth operates four hospitals, four emergency departments, more than 20 health centers, and 40 additional sites throughout Cuyahoga County. With operating revenue of approximately $1.6 billion, MetroHealth is a public, safety-net hospital and home to the county's most experienced Level I Trauma Center and the state's only adult and pediatric burn center. As an academic medical center, MetroHealth is committed to research and serves as an academic medical center affiliate of the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the CEO will be responsible for advancing the mission of MetroHealth to be the most admired public health system in the nation, renowned for innovation, outcomes, service, and financial strength. In partnership with the Board of Trustees, the CEO will develop and implement MetroHealth's strategic direction and vision to grow and strengthen the health system's impact in the community. The CEO will ensure the success of many of the health system's critical initiatives including a major campus transformation, the opening of a new behavioral health hospital, and the health system's work to address the social determinants of health. The CEO will seek opportunities to further integrate the health system into the community and reinforce the health system's role across the region. As a change agent and disruptor, the CEO will develop innovative approaches to transform patient care beyond traditional health care. The CEO will serve as the face and voice of MetroHealth building relationships and cultivating partnerships throughout the community to advance the mission and champion MetroHealth's commitment to a healthier community.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned, inspirational, entrepreneurial leader with experience serving at the senior executive level in a complex health system. The CEO will be a community-oriented leader who will embrace the history and mission of MetroHealth, espousing the belief that the System's core mission is about more than medicine. The CEO will have a strong track record of developing, shaping, and implementing strategic initiatives in partnership with the Board and other stakeholders. The CEO will have experience achieving strong financial, operational, and quality outcomes and positioning an organization for future success. The CEO will be a values-driven leader who inspires others with strong emotional and social intelligence and a demonstrated ability to connect with individuals in an authentic, meaningful way.
