Women's Service Line System Division Chief, MFM
The Inova Health System is seeking a System Division Chief (SDC) of Maternal Fetal Medicine for the Women's Service Line which supports approximately 20,000 deliveries within four of its five hospitals. The SDC position requires administrative leadership in operations, growth, strategy, and quality initiatives as well as teaching responsibilities in association with our Inova residency training program and University of Virginia School of Medicine students. The board-certified MFM provider will join eight subspecialists complemented by genetic counselors, experienced sonographers, and supportive staff that oversee three antenatal testing centers. The group provides a range of comprehensive perinatal services for both mothers with obstetrical complications as well as those with fetal anomalies. Although the MFM group provides delivery services for select high-risk pregnancies at Inova Fairfax Hospital, after hours and weekend call are further supported by a hospitalist service.
As the WSL DD-MFM, you would work closely with Dr Maxwell in his role as President of the Women's Service Line, the Vice-President for Administration, and the Vice-President of Nursing for the Inova Women's Service Line (WSL Triad). Examples of activities that are not all inclusive of the responsibilities of the DD-MDM are outlined below.
In your role as a clinical MFM specialist, you will be overseeing patients presenting to the antenatal testing center at Inova Fairfax Hospital. In addition, your inpatient services would include coverage of delivery services as well as after-hours call working with resident house officers and ultimately fellows once we have an accredited Fellowship training program. In your role as the senior MFM and OB specialist for Inova, we will allocate non-clinical time to support your academic efforts in research as well as scholarly activities inclusive of national leadership roles.
Responsibilities of role include, but are not limited to the following:
Application, accreditation, and sustainment of national benchmark achievements
Optimization of physician satisfaction and employee engagement
Standardization of multiple Clinical OB related protocols for the WSL working closely with the System Director for Routine Obstetric Services
Development of Creta Center with support from administration and collaborative departments (i.e. Radiology, Surgery, Pathology, etc) expanding on clinical algorithms that are in place to support hemorrhage (i.e,.Code Hemorrhage, Mass Transfusion protocol, IR Creta protocol, Teams Training within the "Preparedness for Obstetrical Emergencies Through Simulation - POETS)
Development of Fetal Interventions Program, aimed at support of the patients and family, genetics counselling, fetal laser and other invasive procedures
Participation in budget planning for obstetrics involving individual hospitals, Innova medical group outpatient practices, the Innova cares clinics, and the roll up for the Women's Service Line.
Leadership in growth and strategic development for the region as it pertains to general obstetrics as well as maternal-fetal medicine.
Board eligible/board certified in obgyn
Fellowship completion and board certified Maternal Fetal Medicine
Hold or able to obtain a Virginia state medical license and full Inova privileges
