Full-time on-site OR REMOTE Senior Lab Director Position. Luna Genetics is a rapidly growing biotech startup that has developed a new form of genetic prenatal testing: Single Cell Prenatal Diagnosis (SCPD). This cell-based noninvasive prenatal testing has the potential to revolutionize genetic prenatal diagnosis. Validation studies are nearing completion, and Luna Genetics expects the launch of a CAP/CILA test in January 2022. Luna Genetics is now seeking to add a full time Senior Laboratory Director to our team who is a self-directed team player with experience in operating a CAP/CLIA lab. A candidate with three years or more of experience beyond completion of training is desirable for the Senior Lab Director position, but recent graduates can be considered for a more junior position. ABMGG Board Certification in Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics is required.
Extensive experience in sign-out of chromosomal microarrays is required with some emphasis on prenatal microarrays desirable.
A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in a clinical cytogenetics or molecular genetics laboratory is required.
Experience in launching novel genetic tests is desirable.
Working onsite in Houston is required.
Summary of Responsibilities
Work as a member of the laboratory team and provide leadership and technical support to laboratory staff.
Review and report results, and work with lab team to achieve the laboratory quality and customer service goals.
Serve as educator and resource for in-house staff, clients, and other health care professionals.
Provide information to clients regarding the laboratory’s tests including the appropriate use of tests, limitations/accuracy of tests, possible testing outcomes, sample requirements, interpretation of results, suggestions for appropriate consultations, and/or follow up for cases with abnormal results.
Summarize results of analyses and effectively communicate results in both written and verbal formats.
Participate in company-wide efforts to develop improvements in testing and novel tests.
Participate in drafting/submitting articles/abstracts for publications, posters and/or presentations.
Advise and educate clients about Luna tests.
Assist in developing relevant clinical and lab policies regarding new tests.
