We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Vice President, System Middle Revenue Cycle (SMRC) position located in Maitland, Florida.
The Vice President SMRC reports to the SVP Revenue Management and has responsibility and accountability for providing the leadership necessary to drive and support execution of the strategic direction and success of the organization’s hospital HIM, Coding, Revenue Integrity, Utilization Management, and CDM functions in alignment with AdventHealth’s mission. The VP SMRC will have experience working in a large complex, matrix organization. Responsibilities of this role include working with peers and Division Revenue Cycle Officers as well as Divisional CFOs to influence execution of the above stated middle revenue cycle operations. This individual will have proven executive leadership experience and a demonstrated track record of leading a large peer system with responsibilities and oversight of high-volume revenue transactional work and revenue improvement results. Additionally, the ability to have a significant impact on moving the organization and improving operations to a leading practice organization will be critical to this role. This role is suitable for a strong strategic visionary thinker and driver who can see the big picture, provide tactical support to implementation, and recognize and manage the change.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees HIM, Coding, Revenue Integrity CDM , and Utilization Management across all acute care settings.
Ensures alignment of individual functional areas with the broader Revenue Cycle and enterprise strategic objectives and goals.
Oversees standardization, accuracy and compliance of each middle revenue cycle functional area to align with identified best practice standards that promote seamless care coordination and meet regulatory requirements
Follows, shares, and incorporates middle revenue cycle market trends in alignment with leading revenue cycle practices
Provides insights around financial and operational performance outcomes to achieve middle revenue cycle goals and objectives
Supports functional leadership team to execute on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and to develop and reinforce training/ process improvement standards
Influences change in a matrix-management environment to achieve middle revenue cycle department goals in collaboration with Division Revenue Cycle Officers (RCO) and Division CFO’s
Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including (but not limited to) Clinical, Information Systems, other Revenue Cycle and Finance Leadership, as well as Physician Sponsors and Advent Health Clinical.
Provides guidance and support to functional leadership responsible for personnel management, establishing and executing corporate policies, goals & objectives, and establishing departmental administrative decisions and budget
Member of the Corporate Revenue Cycle Cabinet, and participates in monthly meetings with the Divisional CFOs to evaluate revenue cycle performance and drive improvements
Ensures the performance of a virtual workforce and monitors performance of vendors for outsourced middle revenue functions
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Strong working knowledge of industry best practices and related technology in the areas of HIM, Coding, Revenue Integrity, Utilization Management, and CDM functions.
Purposeful and results oriented
Broad understanding and experience within hospital and physician operations in an integrated health system.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to organize, develop, manage, and motivate a responsive team
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, administrative, and time management skills
Strong focus on accuracy with attention to details
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Outlook)
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, HIM, or Nursing or other allied health related field
Minimum of 5 years of healthcare experience
NAHR or AHIMA membership
Education, Licensure, Experience Preferred:
Master’s degree in finance, business, or health administration
Experience working collaboratively with medical staff, hospital clinical staff, CDI and case management operations
Strong EHR/LHR skills and experience
AAMAS or ACDIS membership
Relevant coding certification
Epic EMR certifications
