The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a new Chief Nursing Officer responsible for the practice of nursing at University Hospital, the Ross Heart Hospital, the Brain and Spine Hospital, and Dodd Hall Rehabilitation Hospital. The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will ensure consistency in the standard of nursing practice across the clinical settings. The CNO supports and facilitates an interdisciplinary team approach to the overall delivery of care to patients, families and the community. The CNO leads quality, safety and innovation initiatives in partnership with the Hospital Executive Directors. The Chief Nursing Officer ensures the vision, strategic direction, and the advancement of the profession of Nursing under the direction of the Health System Chief Nursing Officer.
Doctorate or advanced degree in a health-related field (e.g., health services, public health, nursing, business or health administration) required.
Minimum of ten years of administrative responsibility within a complex academic health care organization and with progressive experience in nursing leadership roles.
Extensive clinical nursing and management experience gained through increasingly responsible related management positions which include serving key leadership roles. Ideal experience would be as a CNO or ACNO within an academic medical center or complex teaching hospital. Preference for experience within a large, sophisticated integrated delivery system, preferably multi-institutional.
Experience in a Magnet facility and involvement in the Magnet designation or re-designation process is preferred.
Experience working in a unionized environment.
