Health Plan of San Joaquin is the major, nonprofit, managed care, public health plan in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties, serving over 360,000 members who are mostly working families and children.
Health Plan of San Joaquin has been serving members enrolled in publicly-funded programs in the heart of the Central Valley since 1996. As a publicly sponsored, not-for-profit, Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), they have a contract with the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to manage health care for Medi-Cal members. They continuously work to improve the health of their community by providing access to high quality cost-effective health care under the Two-Plan model of Medi-Cal Managed Care Division (MMCD). The organization has approximately 380 FTEs.
Reporting to Dr. Lakshmi Dhanvanthari, Chief Medical Officer of HPSJ, the Senior Medical Director is responsible for providing clinical oversight for utilization, quality, pharmacy and credentialing functions in a manner that ensures the delivery of quality, cost effective healthcare, supports organization objectives, and meets contractual and regulatory requirements. Work is varied and highly complex, and requires a moderate to high degree of discretion and independent judgment. This position will have a focus on quality, HEDIS Measures, and NCQA Accreditation. Participation in U.M. and C.M. activities is also required.
MD degree from an accredited medical school.
Satisfactory completion of an American Council of Graduate Medical Education accredited residency program.
At least five years clinical experience in the practice of medicine in fields related to a managed care setting. A Master’s Degree in Public Health may be substituted for two years of the required clinical experience.
At least five years clinical experience in the practice of medicine with Medi-Cal and/or Medicare populations.
At least five years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting or equivalent combination of experience.
