(Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS is seeking a full-time Physician (Medical Director, Community Care). This is an open-continuous announcement and will remain open until September 30, 2021, or until the position is filled (if a selection is made and offer accepted, announcement will be closed. Major Duties and Responsibilities ~ Assume leadership of the Community Care (CC) team in collaboration with the Service Chief and Nurse Manager at the G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center (GVSMVAMC). The Director will have medical oversight and exercise independent judgment in carrying out duties and responsibilities that include but are not limited programmatic supervision as well as general oversight of community care services throughout the health system. ~ Responsible for assisting the Chief of Staff and the Administrative Chief of Community Care in the tracking, monitoring, reporting, supervision and oversight of productivity, service reports, and special requests for reports, as well as supervision of clinical staff. ~ Actively develop and review patient satisfaction, practice efficiency, troubleshoot clinical issues, participate in meetings with other services, performs needs assessments of clinical areas and team meetings when indicated. He/she is supervisory and arranges and provides coverage for provider absences; works with the onsite leadership on issues pertinent to the service; develops provider staffing models; directs the budgetary and fiscal management of the service; coordinates resource requests with the Chief of Staff for submission to top management; tracks workload; and supervises Community Care VA providers including professional development plans, recruitment/retention and disciplinary issues when appropriate. ~Other duties as assigned.
