The mission of VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (VANIHCS), is to provide coordinated, compassionate and comprehensive quality primary care, mental health, surgical, intensive and extended care to Veterans in a timely, accessible and cost effective manner. VANIHCS is recruiting for a Site Director-Physician. The Medical Director has the responsibility of providing direct supervision of Clinical Providers assigned. The Site Medical Director will also provide direct patient care. The proportion of clinical and administrative time is 75%/25%. The physician provides services in a primary care setting. They will provide direct patient care to an adult population of predominantly older, male patients. The individual must demonstrate the knowledge of the changes associated with aging and possess the ability to provide care based upon age-related factors as noted in age-specific competencies described in service and unit policies and procedures. The physician may serve on Medical Center committees or VISN 10 committees at the Chief of Staff's request. The physician's clinical hours may include extended evening hours throughout the weekdays and weekends. The Site Medical Director has the responsibility for the overall supervision of all Providers assigned. They will ensure the continuous effective operation of the primary care service line. They will be responsible for recommending disciplinary actions and providing input on annual reviews. The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring that personnel are available and approving/disapproving leave as required. The Medical Director will report to the Associate Chief of Staff- Primary Care. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Newly appointed employee(s) or employee(s) converted to permanent status, selected under this announcement, may be eligible to apply for an award up to the maximum limitation under the provisions of the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Funding, on the final award amount, is contingent on the availability of EDRP funds. Employee(s) must apply for EDRP within four (4) months of appointment or conversion.
