The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center is recruiting for a full time Physician to serve as the Chief of the Anesthesiology Service. The Chief of Anesthesia Service is the senior leader with responsibilities for the overall performance of the Anesthesia unit, including resource management of budget and positions. The Incumbent is a key member of the clinical leadership team and reports directly to the Chief of Staff. Responsible for the direct management and oversight of clinical and administrative operations within the Anesthesia Service. These duties include all clinical performance measures. Additionally, participation in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings or committees are necessary as assigned. Excellent communication skills are considered a critical competency. Expected to facilitate communication between departments and will be the primary conduit of information to the Service. Clinical responsibilities will cover 70% of duties, Administrative responsibilities 30% of duties. Requires the ability to challenge systems and processes to improve access to care and the care delivery process coupled with the ability to think and act creatively and innovatively. Promotes effective coordination and support of clinical care by evaluating current and potential patient needs, clinical workload and resources, and special programs/mandates. Monitors and evaluates the quality of medical services as an integral part of the overall quality assessments and improvement program and assuring compliance with The Joint Commission. Promotes and evaluates standards of clinical competence and conduct for staff which are maintained through compliance with the credentialing and privileging processes, monitoring and evaluation of clinical practice, peer review, and other appropriate quality assurance activities. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Authorized This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.
