The Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks located in Fayetteville, Arkansas is recruiting for the Chief of Medicine Service. The incumbent reports to the facility Chief of Staff. Incumbent will be organizationally responsible for approximately 100 employee in four locations, as well as contract employees in various specialties. Board Certification/Eligibility in Internal Medicine is required for this position; Experience in management in a hospital setting is highly preferred. The Chief of Medicine Service is responsible for oversight and performance measures of all Medical Service operations at the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks. The Incumbent reports directly to the Chief of Staff and is a key clinical resource for the Medical Center Director. The individual possesses excellent interpersonal skills and provides administrative, clinical, programmatic leadership. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Planning, developing, and directing all administrative and clinical functions of the service line. Provides oversight of the Inpatient Acute Care Unit, Medical Services, Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Subspecialty Services, Physical Therapy, Ultrasound Services, Nuclear Medicine, and Respiratory Therapy. Maintains a patient panel. Provides oversight responsibility for residents and medical students. Malpractice: Physicians are covered under the Tort Claims Protection Act. Paid Time Off: 8 hours Annual Leave accrued per biweekly pay period; 4 hours Sick leave accrued per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays.
