The Iowa City VA Health Care System is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible physician to serve as its Care in the Community (CITC) ACOS. This is an open and continuous announcement and will remain open until a selection is made or the closing date, whichever occurs first. Applications will be reviewed and referred every two weeks. Recruitment/Relocation Incentives May Be Authorized For Highly Qualified Candidates This Physician reports directly to the Chief of Staff and will assume the leadership of the CITC team in collaboration with the CITC Nursing Administrator. This candidate demonstrates leadership in delivering quality, cost-effective care through partnerships with VHA and Community Care providers. The incumbent directs and manages all administrative activities within the service line, successful performance of his/her assigned area, including customer satisfaction and the efficient delivery of services to our Veterans within the community. The position will be responsible for monitoring and advancing patient safety quality standards and utilization management for the CITC Department. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who is proficient in VHA databases, fully understands performance metrics and is able to monitor trends, etc. The candidate will proactively partner with all staff in developing organizational systems for CITC using lean management principles to measure quality initiatives for facility performance effectiveness. The preferred candidate needs to be proficient in VA's CPRS electronic medical record. He/she will review cases in the community that need additional guidance and conduct needs-based reviews & modifications for patient care coordination. This candidate will also serve as member of multiple facility committees and working groups. Attend leadership sessions or conference meetings as required. This position is mainly administrative with indirect patient care. This candidate will be reviewing medical information provided by outside community care providers and if in agreement, submitting authorizations for additional services. May be involved in other clinical duties as outlined by the Chief of Staff. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
