As part of the ambulatory nursing leadership team, the Director of Ambulatory Nursing reports to the Vice President of Ambulatory Nursing and is an integral member of the DHMC Ambulatory Nursing Leadership Team. This team supports all of the clinic nurse leaders in nursing practice, education and leadership. Essential competencies for this role are deeply rooted in the American Organization of Nurse Leaders Nurse Executive Competencies which define the skills, knowledge and abilities that guide the practice of nurse leaders. This role requires commitment, compassion and the ability to execute the strategic vision of DHMC, DHMC Nursing and DHMC Ambulatory Nursing. The ideal candidate will have experience in Ambulatory Nursing, demonstrated progression in nursing leadership positions, and expertise in the areas of operations, management of teams, communication skills, and the professional development, cross training and engagement of clinical and support staff. Purpose: Directs, coordinates and evaluates clinical operations and is responsible for the operational management of nursing in the community group practices and ambulatory clinics. Ensures that all nursing activities comply with budgetary, regulatory and accreditation requirements. Responsible for planning, organization, and administration of nursing operations to include staffing, training, and documentation to maintain the highest quality patient care standards.
