As physician executive, the Chief of Staff is involved in VA Central California Healthcare's leadership and management of resources, organizational performance improvement, patient & employee satisfaction, environment of care, and strategic planning. The COS serves as advisor to the Medical Center Director on issues related to provision of direct patient care and promotes the development of health care professionals through counseling, mentoring, teaching and encouraging self-assessment.
Providing Health Care for Veterans: The Veterans Health Administration is America’s largest integrated health care system, providing care at 1,255 health care facilities, including 170 medical centers and 1,074 outpatient sites of care of varying complexity (VHA outpatient clinics), serving 9 million enrolled Veterans each year.
