Hospicare & Palliative Care Services of Tompkins and Cortland Counties
Hospicare & Palliative Care Services seeks a dynamic Executive Director to lead our respected, vibrant agency. We bring together medical expertise, compassion, and outstanding care for those dealing with life-threatening illnesses. Located in New York’s scenic Finger Lakes region and renowned for our area educational institutions, Hospicare serves the residents of Cortland (pop. 50,000) and Tompkins (pop. 100,000) counties.
The agency has a $5.1 million operating budget, serving more than 500 patients and their families annually through hospice, palliative care, and bereavement services in patients’ homes, in our 6-bed residential facility, and in partnering acute-care and extended-care facilities. The Executive Director works alongside a deeply committed staff (50 FTEs), engaged board, passionate donor community, and volunteer network of 600 people.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of ten years’ progressively responsible management experience in a mission-driven organization; strong communication skills; promote a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and open communication; possess financial and business expertise; and demonstrate success in outreach and fundraising. A master’s degree is preferred. The director will
Develop and negotiate innovative strategies that will underpin a stable, sustainable organization, efficient operations, and increase hospice and palliative care volume and market share.
Establish or strengthen strategic provider, payer, and community partnerships.
Possess the credibility, communication skills, vision, and inclination to be an effective and outgoing spokesperson for Hospicare and the services we offer.
Approach sensitive and rapidly emerging issues with a calm, confident, and collaborative leadership style.
Embrace accessible and open management styles that support staff; provide a clear and consistent sense of direction and accountability; and reinforce teamwork, collaboration, and open communication.
Be enthusiastically and personally involved in development, fundraising, donor solicitation, and donor stewardship, and have experience generating major gifts from individuals and foundations.
Effectively apply technologies to enhance quality operations and communication.
Additional Salary Information: An attractive compensation package will be offered commensurate with the candidate's background and experience.

Our staff and volunteers work with family members of all ages after the death of a loved one. We provide counseling services, educational programs, and support groups to anyone in the community.
