Hershey, PA - Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (MSHMC), the flagship academic medical center of Penn State Health (PSH) seeks a seasoned, strategic and contemporary physician executive with demonstrated leadership experience to serve as its next Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer (CMO). The CMO is responsible for care delivery and the efficient management of clinical resources to deliver high quality patient care. This leader will build relationships centered on trust; communicate effectively to engage with operational and clinical colleagues to improve care guidelines, quality outcomes and standardization of patient care. The CMO will also be instrumental in the oversight of MSHMC's quality performance and improvement in recognized national quality benchmarks.
The CMO, in collaboration with the senior leadership team and clinical chairs, will be responsible for setting and implementing a bold innovative agenda for excellence in clinical services. S/He will work collaboratively with clinical leaders across departmental lines to guide the comprehensive, strategic and tactical planning of quality and safety programs throughout the delivery network.
The successful candidate will have a substantive track record of leadership in a complex, high performing academic medical center. S/He will have intimate knowledge of clinical practice, quality and patient safety, an understanding of the business of healthcare, and will command the respect of colleagues through professional achievement and servant leadership. A Doctor of Medicine degree is required (MD/DO) and completion of a postgraduate medical education in an ACGME approved residency program in a medical specialty with current Board Certification. An advanced degree in healthcare or a business related field is preferred. The physician leader who will best succeed is one who is visible, proactive, decisive, an outstanding communicator, collaborative, facile in a highly matrixed environment and one who is able to build relationships across MSHMC and PSH.
