The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Henry Ford Medical Group (HFMG) provides executive leadership for the Medical Group’s clinical services and academics (research and education) throughout the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS), reporting directly to the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) of the HFHS. The CEO HFMG is responsible to the HFMG Board of Governors and for effectively communicating with the HFHS Board of Trustees on matters pertaining to the HFMG.
The CEO HFMG is also responsible for overseeing the academic mission of the HFMG, including research and education programs, and serves on the HFMG Board of Governors (BOG) and numerous HFHS operational committees. Reporting to this position are the chairs of the clinical and research departments and the medical directors of the specialty centers and clinical service lines.
In partnership with the CCO for HFHS and other senior leaders, the CEO HFMG oversees the development of the health system’s population health and accountable care strategies as HFHS moves forward in the transformation of healthcare from volume-based to value-based reimbursement.
The CEO HFMG will collaborate with system CCO on the development of an academic strategy for the HFMG and HFHS and will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and operation of the resulting programs.
The incumbent must have ten (10) or more years of clinical and executive leadership experience, including responsibility for fiscal and medical staff
The incumbent should demonstrate achievement of a high level of professional accomplishment with experience in academic medicine and a portfolio of educational, research or other scholarly activities to the extent that he/she has attained faculty appointment at the associate/professor rank or the equivalent.
Experience in a large, advanced, complex health system is essential. Experience within an integrated care system that includes multiple hospitals, a pluralistic medical staff, as well as an insurance product is ideal.
A proven track record in improving quality and safety in a complex health system is required. Must be a leader and champion of quality. Significant experience with a proven Quality Improvement System (Lean, Six-Sigma, etc.) is
