Nemours is seeking a Chief, Division of Plastic Surgery to join our team in Wilmington, DE.
The Chief, Division of Plastic Surgery is a Physician leader who provides the vision, oversight and guidance to achieve the two primary goals of a clinical division at Nemours:
1. Superior health care service to our patients, and
2. Satisfying professional careers for our health care providers and other associates.
The Division Chief’s vision, strategy and tactics must be developed and implemented in harmony with that of the Department, and must be consistent with the Nemours Mission and Strategic Destination. Nemours leadership will allocate the necessary resources, authority and autonomy to provide the Division Chief the tools necessary to be successful in this role.
The Division Chief is an active and respected clinical member of the Division, and is considered to be an expert in her/his field. She/he is charged with the clinical, administrative, and academic performance of the Division. The Chief leads the effort to achieve the Division’s strategic, clinical, academic, operational and financial goals within the available constraints and resources provided. The Chief supports the Department Chair in determining the Division and Department’s strategic goals, provides leadership as well as support to the Director of Cleft Palate program and works collaboratively with other medical and administrative leaders at Nemours to develop and achieve these goals. The Division Chief reports to the Department Chair.
Scope of Practice
The Division Chief will define the scope of practice of their Division consistent with the mission and goals of Nemours. In the case of Plastic Surgery, she/he will lead the expansion of the Division so expertise spans four discrete sub-specialty areas:
Cleft/craniofacial & congenital surgery
Hand surgery& Peripheral nerve reconstruction
General reconstruction including trauma and oncologic patient
Burns, wounds & vascular malformation surgery
She/he will collaborate with leadership to create and seek new initiatives to further the Nemours mission which can bring value to Nemours and its patients, both within and external to their specialty. In collaboration with the Department Chair, Cleft Palate program Director and medical staff, this effort will include defining appropriate patient populations to be served, as well as executing strategic initiatives as aligned with the Nemours True North strategic management system.
