Greater Boston, MA – Lahey Hospital and Medical Center (LHMC) seeks an outstanding leader for the key position of Chair, Department of Medicine (DOM). The Chair, DOM will provide leadership for the Department and will have responsibility for strategic planning, coordination and development across clinical service lines, faculty oversight, graduate medical education, professional performance, and clinical research within the department. This is an outstanding leadership role for a well-respected clinician who leads from the front lines, working with all providers to grow and develop new programs and clinical capabilities.
Reporting to the LHMC CEO/President David L. Longworth, the Chair, DOM at LHMC oversees all aspects of the medicine specialty enterprise at LHMC, exclusive of primary care and inclusive of several unique specialties including Neurology, Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, Dermatology and Radiation Oncology. The best candidate will embrace the clinic model of care, which at Lahey is physician-led, interdisciplinary, exceedingly collegial and built around the patient. The next Chair must nurture ongoing intra- and interdepartmental collaboration, a hallmark of prior and current success of the organization. Clinical collaboration also includes advanced practice providers (APPs) at LHMC; APPs are full voting members of the medical staff, valued members of the clinical team and make up approximately a third of all providers at LHMC.
The Chair works closely with the CEO ensuring all hospital and clinic-based DOM operations align with LHMC's mission, strategic objectives and integrated group practice model. Further, the Chair ensures that DOM strategy aligns with the overall course of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), as the merger between BILH and 3 other hospitals will commence in March 2019. The Chair will interface with Medicine Chairs across BILH, and will serve as the Lahey representative for Medicine with BILH as part of the new entity. The Chair will have the opportunity to lead the Department through innovative process design to increase market share and in the pursuit of faculty efficiency across key mission areas while optimizing working conditions for staff to enhance engagement and workplace satisfaction. Those innovation efforts will also ensure that the Department provides the best experience for patients.
CV/Resumes, nominations, confidential expressions of interest should be submitted via email to Lahey's search consultants Kimberly Smith, Stephen Davis, Walter Ettinger, MD and Vineeth Gossain via Lahey-ChairMedicine@wittkieffer.com.
