Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers is seeking a Senior Medical Director (SMD) to oversee the care provided by physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses in the Little Company of Mary Medical Group (LCMMG).
Job Duties: The Senior Medical Director serves as clinical advisor to Little Company of Mary (LCM) CEO regarding strategy development, including alliances with independent practices and other organizations providing care to LCMMG patients. The SMD leads LCMMG’s Population Health agenda. As a member of LCMH’s Executive Team, the SMD provides medical perspective regarding financial and operational issues.
Under general direction, the SMD is responsible for the medical service functioning of LCMMG, to include operational excellence, outstanding patient service, high clinical performance, patient quality and safety, achievement of financial results, and use of best human resources and leadership practices to realize and embed a positive organizational culture; partners collaboratively with the Executive Director as a unified leadership team.
The SMD is responsible to oversee clinical practice operations of LCMMG, including both primary care and specialty offices, and provide support to providers with practices that operate within the hospitals and/or other affiliated facilities. The Senior Medical Director is responsible for driving innovation by developing and maintaining LCM as a learning organization.
Additionally, the SMD shall devote 0.5 full time equivalent to direct patient care within physician’s training and specialty.
Must be a graduate of an ACGME or AACOM accredited Residency Program.
Must maintain a current Illinois State Medical license to practice and current State and Federal DEA licensure.
Must be Board Certified.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related healthcare degree preferred.
Must have a thorough understanding of medical practice management and health care legislation and terminology.
A minimum of 5 years practicing as a licensed physician.
Requires a minimum of seven years of progressive leadership in physician practice, to include all areas of administrative responsibilities: budget and personnel management, customer service experience, strong Microsoft Office product skills, CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding, physician practice EMR experience and the general health care environment.
Demonstrated ability to successfully oversee the work efforts of physicians and advanced practice providers.
Must have outstanding interpersonal skills due to the multi-levels of communication and influencing required in this position; physicians, advanced practice providers, hospital administration, vendors, department heads, office staff, patient/family members, etc.
Must possess strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Must have strong time management and organizational skills.
Must have strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
Constant problem solving demands are required along with ability to multi-task amidst frequent interruptions.
This position requires ability to investigate multiple sources of data and evidence based practice, and/or trouble shoot to make proper decisions.
Requires the analytical abilities necessary to research, assess, develop, and implement procedures, policies and overall planning for multiple physician practices with continual evaluation and follow up.
