In 2016 and 2017, the hospital was a Top 100 Healthgrades hospital and achieved metrics in the top quartile for all reported quality scores, with most reaching the top decile. In 2017, the hospital earned the state Malcolm Baldridge award and will continue its journey toward national recognition.
White Memorial has a long tradition of providing superior medical education in its complex, urban setting. Affiliated with University of Southern California and Loma Linda University, training programs include: Internal Medicine; Obstetrics and Gynecology; Family Medicine; Pharmacy; and Podiatry. The hospital provides a full range of clinical services, with the exception of burns and transplants.
Adventist Health is a faith-based, $4.1 billion health system with 20 hospitals and more than 280 clinics, serving 75 communities on the West Coast and Hawaii. As Medical Officer at White Memorial, the physician leader will join a mission-driven and complex organization that is continuing its transition from a federated model of care delivery to a centralized, operating model, focused on the entire continuum of care. The MO will lead the care transformation process in a key Adventist Health market.
Reporting directly to the White Memorial President with a dotted line reporting to the Regional Medical Officer, Southern California, the MO will oversee and be responsible for advancing the market’s clinical agenda to continue its journey from a fee-for-service based culture to one focused on fee-for-value. This leader will foster the clinical leadership and engagement necessary for care redesign and creating a high reliability organization across the full continuum for the acute and ambulatory services.
The successful MO will be a physician with appropriate board certification and progressive experience in clinical practice. A candidate with experience in a sophisticated healthcare market and teaching institutions is preferred; most important, is the ability to relate to inpatient and ambulatory providers and issues. The MO will have at least five years in a physician/executive/administrative leadership role; an advanced degree in health care or business related field is preferred. The successful MO will be visible, proactive, an outstanding communicator, and able to build relationships to engage peers in delivering excellence in clinical care. The ability to work productively with an active, community board and to collaborate with the tight-knit management team is essential.
