Eskaton, a not-for-profit organization located outside Sacramento, California, seeks an exceptional leader to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Eskaton is one of the most complex and successful organizations transforming the aging experience. With revenues, owned and managed, of $228 million, the organization had a 6.2 percent operating margin in FY 2017.
Eskaton has evolved from primarily an ownership-oriented model to be able to provide broader coverage and more choices to enhance the quality of life of seniors through innovative health, housing, and social services. In order to transform the aging experience, Eskaton is partnering with a variety of organizations to touch more lives in the northern California region.
Working in a highly collaborative environment with the senior vice presidents, the CFO reports to the Chief Executive Officer, Todd Murch, and is responsible for the organization’s broad finance function. The CFO supports the organization’s strategic and growth objectives, and aligns the finance vision with the mission and vision of the organization. In addition to ensuring financial performance, the CFO is expected to support Eskaton’s joint venture, partnership, and alliance activities as the organization grows. The CFO is expected to be an integral part of the due diligence and decision-making regarding these opportunities. This individual will be an integral part of achieving the organization’s strategy and must be comfortable representing Eskaton internally and externally with many audiences. The CFO will also work closely with the Board, audit committee, investment advisors, audit firm (Moss Adams), legal counsel, and resident finance committees. The CFO has a team of 24 professionals and direct reports.
The CFO will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a broad array of audiences. Experience in public debt financing is a plus. While not required, an MBA or a CPA is an asset. Ten years' experience in financial management with progressively increasing responsibility and a minimum of five years' experience as a CFO, controller, or Finance Director in a complex organization is required.
