Reporting to the Regional Vice President of Medical Affairs, the Physician leader is responsible for the administrative and clinical management of the east region hospital medicine programs. The East Region consists of The William W. Backus Hospital and Windham Hospital.
Responsibilities include the assurance of provisions of quality care to patients in the hospital, maintaining clinical standards through the application of data supported standard of practice, overseeing program and service operations that may include revenue and expense controls, medical staff liaison, and committee participation.
The Director will collaborate with Administration and the Quality Department to ensure Joint Commission, Federal, State and Hospital standards are met. Responsibility includes oversight and involvement with recruitment, credentialing of hospitalist providers and ongoing performance evaluations. As a leader, the Director will represent Hartford HealthCare’s mission, vision and values to providers, facilities and the community.
Other job responsibilities include:
In consultation with the Regional VPMA, sets the program goals for staffing, budget, quality, utilization, volume/productivity of the Hospitalist’s program consistent with system Balanced Scorecard initiatives
Leads Lean Daily Management and development of standard work including such activities as unit based and interdisciplinary rounding
Functions as the liaison with primary care providers in the community and privileged providers
Represents East Region HHC Hospitalist Council and communicates council goal set at each site, recruits other hospitalists to participate in the Hospitalist Council and HHC system initiatives

MD/DO with board certification in internal medicine or family medicine
Masters in health care administration or business administration (preferred)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospital-based medicine and 3 years of administrative/leadership experience
Unrestricted CT License, unrestricted Federal DEA and CT Controlled substance
