Adventist Health, with headquarters in Roseville, California, has retained Witt/Kieffer to conduct a national search for their Medical Officer (MO) of a critical Central California market in Lodi, CA. This role is the most senior physician leader across the continuum of care for the 190-bed acute care hospital with 14 clinics and net patient revenue of over $300 million in a in a 300,000 catchment area.
The MO role represents the opportunity to join a mission-driven and complex organization that is continuing its transition from a federated model of care delivery to a centralized, operating model, focused on the entire continuum of care. This leader will walk into a nationally-recognized, multi-state health system that has substantial reach and can profoundly impact the health of the populations the system serves. The MO will lead the care transformation process in a newer Adventist market.
Reporting directly to the Lodi President with a dotted line reporting to the Regional Medical Officer, Central California, the MO will oversee and be responsible for advancing the market’s clinical agenda to continue its journey from a fee-for-service based culture to one focused on fee-for-value. This leader will foster the clinical leadership and engagement necessary for care redesign and creating a high reliability organization across the full continuum for the acute and ambulatory services.
Adventist Lodi includes a busy emergency room with 51,000 annual visits, a world-class orthopedic program, an accredited stroke center, as well as thriving obstetrics, surgical and primary care services. In partnership with community physicians, an ambulatory surgery center and endoscopy center further serve its patients. The Hospital enjoys tremendous support from the community and great dedication from its staff.
The successful MO will be a physician with appropriate board certification and progressive experience in clinical practice. The ideal candidate will preferably have a primary care or medical subspecialty background; most important, is the ability to relate to inpatient and ambulatory providers and issues. The MO will have at least five years in a physician/executive/administrative leadership role; an advanced degree in health care or business related field is preferred. The successful MO will be visible, collaborative, an outstanding communicator, and able to build relationships to engage peers in delivering excellence in clinical care.
