Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, located in Hartford, Connecticut – a member of Trinity Health of New England - has retained Witt/Kieffer to conduct a national search for a Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
The CMO will provide leadership and has responsibility for the hospital-wide professional activities directed at improving the safety, quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of patient care delivered at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital. She/he will be responsible for developing and monitoring operational and patient care standards, monitoring and analyzing clinical performance data, and enhancing the coordination of physician interests and activities. The CMO is expected to lead the decision-making process, provide consistent leadership, and maintain excellent interpersonal relations with all physicians and staff.
Saint Francis is New England’s largest Catholic hospital, with 617 licensed inpatient beds and five centers of excellence that embrace patients at every stage of life. Saint Francis is a regional referral center and major teaching hospital that became part of Trinity Health of New England in 2015. The ideal candidate has a proven track record as a physician leader and a history of success in transforming organizations into high performing, thriving institutions. The CMO will have a strong record of building close working relationships with physicians and staff. We seek individuals who are inspiring leaders and are team oriented, results driven and know how to leverage the resources of Saint Francis to actualize results. Candidates will have demonstrated experience integrating and participating in the community they serve. She/he will have an ability to translate the vision for the hospital into an executable plan focused on quality and performance. Experience in a multi-hospital health system would be a significant plus. She/he will have their MD or DO. The successful candidate will be a leader who holds themselves and others accountable and leads through influence. The ability to work in a highly matrixed environment is a must. It is also highly preferred that candidates have an appreciation and respect for working within a faith-based environment.
