The Physician will meet, assess, and diagnose patients in our internal family medicine department and provide them with healthcare services that meet state and national standards for caregiving. They will be responsible for prescribing patients with appropriate medication, health regimens, and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent future health issues, and/or promote a healthier lifestyle. They collaborate and support team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to care. The Physician will report to our Medical Director.
This position will initially be based at our current location on Bailey Avenue, but will soon move to our brand new, state-of-the-art healthcare facility currently under construction at the corner of Kensington and Bailey in Buffalo, NY!
As part of the Essential Functions for this role, the Physician:
- Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examinations and diagnostic tests
- In accordance with medical protocols, evaluates test findings, makes initial medical diagnosis and develops and implements a therapeutic plan consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient
- Develops appropriate primary care health regimens for patients utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach
- Participates in after-hours, on-call coverage rotations
- Participates in planning with other staff in Primary & Specialty Care for the development and monitoring of all required services to patients
- Assists in providing learning experiences for clinical staff and other allied health professionals
- Provides supervision to other members of the medical team
- Conducts medical chart reviews
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department
Qualified Candidate will be licensed physician registered with the New York State Education Department; Board Certified, Pediatrics preferred; BLS/CPR certified; minimum of two (2) years of experience in an active medical practice, with proven administrative/supervisory responsibilities preferred; will have experience utilizing EMR software (Medent preferred); awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations is essential.
Requirements
Required Education/License: Licensed physician registered with the New York State Education Department; Board certified in a medical specialty- Internal Family Medicine, Pediatrics preferred
Other required certification: BLS/CPR
Required Experience: minimum two years experience in an active medical practice; administrative/supervisory responsibilities preferred
Additional requirements: Experience utilizing EMR software (Medent preferred); candidate must be authorized to work in the United States
