- Chief Quality Officer - Part Time
Description
Boston Children's Health Physicians, New York & Connecticut (BCHP) is seeking a Part-Time Chief Quality Officer. We are looking for a committed leader with a strong background in pediatric medicine, quality improvement, change management, patient safety, and physician quality programs.
This senior leader will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to improve quality and patient safety. Key responsibilities include leading performance improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to standards like NCQA PCMH and PCSP, and using data to drive change in collaboration with physicians and other stakeholders. The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of healthcare quality and operations.
Core responsibilities
Quality and performance improvement: Develop and oversee comprehensive programs for quality improvement, patient safety, and performance excellence using established quality improvement methodologies. Work with division and practice level leadership to enhance and support site-level quality improvement work.
Regulatory compliance: Ensure the organization meets all requirements for PCMH and PCSP recognition and oversees all related reporting and audits.
Performance Improvement: oversee the organization’s performance in payer-driven quality incentive and value-based purchasing programs and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to optimize performance in those programs.
Strategic leadership: Align quality initiatives with the organization's strategic plan and collaborate with senior leadership to set goals and execute strategies.
Data analysis and reporting: Oversee the collection, analysis, reporting, and distribution of quality and patient safety data to identify areas for improvement, track progress, and inform decision-making.
Culture and collaboration: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and work collaboratively with clinical teams, physicians, and other staff to implement evidence-based practices and drive excellence.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education: MD or DO with clinical experience in pediatrics or a pediatric subspecialty
Experience: Extensive leadership experience (5+ years) in pediatric healthcare, with significant experience in quality improvement
Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of quality management systems, performance improvement methodologies, PCMH/PCSP, and national quality trends
Skills:
o Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills
o Proven ability to drive organizational change and foster collaboration
o Experience with data analytics and using technology to improve outcomes
o Proficiency in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles, statistical analysis, and safety science
o Strong understanding of team dynamics
o Experience in developing and implementing educational programs for clinical and support staff
o Proficient in performing gap analyses and identifying areas for process change and developing workflows that enable improved quality and safety
o Understanding of PDSA process and other quality improvement tools
o Understanding PCMH and PCSP standards and guidelines and recognition process
o Experience with physician quality programs strongly desired
o Business acumen and insight into clinical processes
This position is 0.5 FTE. BCHP is open to discussion regarding clinical positions that may contribute to a full-time position with the right candidate.
Expected compensation for this 0.5 FTE position is $110,000-$125,000 per year.
